Who knew? Sean Kirst, our beloved columnist, is the founder of International Tolkien Reading Day! And this year, the reading is taking place in the Palace Theatre on Sunday. Drop in any time that afternoon and maybe into the evening. It’s free, and a great way to introduce the kids (or yourself!) to “The Hobbit”.
But you’ll really want to read all about it at Sean’s blog. Okay, so you’re on your way out the door. Here are the basics, which I have lifted from Sean’s blog:
Tolkien Reading Day
What: Central New York Tolkien enthusiasts will gather to read “The Hobbit” out loud.
When and where: Sunday, from at least 1 to 6 p.m., on the second floor of The Palace Theatre, 2384 James St., in Eastwood, Syracuse.
Who’s invited: Anyone who loves J.R.R. Tolkien is welcome to stop by at any point to take a turn.
Admission: It’s free. If you want to throw a donation into a hat, any proceeds will go toward the Ted Grace Reading Grove, a literacy project for city children at Corcoran High School, and toward The Learning Place’s GED program.
